Federal minister Sardar Ali Mohammad Mahar passes away

Islamabad:  Federal Minister for Narcotics Control Ali Mohammad Mahar  has passed away at the age of 52.Quoting family sources, Geo News reported that the lawmaker  died of heart failure in his hometown Ghotki.He had also served as the 25th Chief Minister of Sindh from 2002 to 2004.In 2018 general election, Ali Mohamamd Mahar was elected to the National Assembly as an independent candidate from Constituency NA-205 Ghotki. He announced to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) following his victory and became part of the cabinet in September 2018.Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed sorrow  over the  demise of his cabinet member and offered condolence to the bereaved family. from The News International - National http://bit.ly/2JRiq4E

When the media shows the picture of a rape or murder victim it is breaking all the basic rules of journalism.Just because the media platforms have changed it doesn’t mean the basic rules and ethics of journalism have also changed. Whether a story is for print, broadcast or digital/social media, the basic ethics remain the same. Every story should be tested against five basic rules - truth and accuracy; independence; fairness and impartiality; humanity and accountability. If it doesn’t, then the journalist hasn’t done the job properly.Every journalist knows the importance of these ethics, however due to the pressure of ratings and the breaking news phenomenon in Pakistani media, many seem to be overlooking these or discarding them altogether. SBP increases interest rate by 150 basis points to 12.25 percent

KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has increased interest rate by 150 basis points (bps) to 12.25 per cent from 10.75 per cent effective from May 21, 2019.The SBP increased the policy rate while announcing its monetary policy for next two months.The State Bank, in its monetary policy statement, said “there have been three notable developments since the last Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting in March 2019. First, the government of Pakistan has reached a staff-level agreement with the International Monetary Fund for 39-month long Extended Fund Facility of around $ 6 billion. The program is designed to restore macroeconomic stability and support sustainable economic growth, and is expected to unlock considerable additional external financing. Second, trends in government borrowing reflect a widening fiscal deficit during the first nine months of FY19 when compared to the same period in FY18. Kuwait assures Pakistan of resolving visa issues

KUWAIT CITY: Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has assured to make personal efforts in resolving issues confronting Pakistani community regarding visa restrictions, Radio Pakistan reported.He was talking to Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who called on him in Kuwait on Sunday.The foreign minister apprised the Emir of Kuwait about reservations and difficulties of Pakistani community in Kuwait due to visa restrictions. LONDON: The parents of missing Mohammed Shah Subhani has appealed to Scotland Yard to take the case of their “disappeared” son who went missing two weeks ago from Hounslow, West London.Shah was reported to police as missing by worried family members of May 7 shortly before midnight having last been seen by his family at 12.30pm that same day when he went out to attend a few appointments promising his family that he will be back within two hours. Opposition parties devise strategies against govt over iftar in Islamabad

Eight dead, seven injured after car crash in Shikarpur

SHIKARPUR: A car crash between two vehicles killed eight including four children near Bhayo Wah in Shikarpur on Sunday.As per reports citing police, while the collision between two vehicles left eight dead, seven were also reported to be injured at the national highway near Bhayo Wah in the district. It was revealed further that amongst the dead, four were identified as children.The dead bodies as well as the injured were later moved to the Civil Hospital Shikarpur.Moreover, police held reckless driving as the cause behind the crash adding that the matter is under additional investigation presently.
